Innisfil Municipal Election Debate
On October 1st, Innisfil residents had the opportunity to hear from the candidates for the upcoming municipal election. The Innisfil District Association partnered with the Rotary Club of Innisfil and the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library in downtown Alcona for a meet and greet of all council candidates followed by a mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates’ debate.
IDA President Deborah McGrath moderated the debate between mayoral candidates Dan Davidson and Lynn Dollin and deputy mayoral candidates Ken Fowler and Rob Nicol, asking them to speak to four questions of importance to Innisfil citizens:
- As the result of the effects of climate change, the Town of Innisfil declared a climate emergency in February. What policies and strategies do you want the town to implement to address the issue?
- With the health of Lake Simcoe being a top priority, what steps would you implement to ensure Innisfil reduces the phosphorus load in the lake by 2026?
- What steps would you take to further reduce or eradicate food insecurity in Innisfil?
- How will the town assure affordable housing is included in all future developments?
The varied and detailed answers from the candidates can be found in the Innisfil Today article of October 4th, written by Rob Paul at innisfiltoday.ca/2022-municipal-election-news/candidates-square-off-at-Innisfil-mayoral-debate-5906543
The IDA would like to thank its partners for their work in realizing this important Innisfil event
